How to adopt or purchase a horse at Heritage Acres:
Please fill out the adoption pre-questionnaire and return it to Heritage Acres. The fastest and easiest way to do this is to download the form, complete it, scan it and email it back. Snail mail is also another way if you don't have a scanner.
Your references will be checked and once complete, you will be "pre-qualified". Our scope is growing and while we may not now have the horse of your dreams; if you are considering purchasing in 2012- consider adoption or working with us to find that perfect horse as a viable, affordable option to give an OTTB a second chance. By pre-qualifying; you are ready to adopt or purchase once you see a horse you love!! If we find you a horse and negotiate with the trainer on your behalf, we do have a commission fee of 20% of the final sale price due and payable to us immediately upon purchase.
If you see a horse that you are interested in adopting or purchasing you can make arrangements to visit. Feel free to bring your family, friends, trainers, a vet. Any fees associated with pre-adoption are at your cost.
If you are sure that you want a horse, paypal is always the easiest way to ensure that you get that horse. Deposits of 30% are requested and if you indicate that you are certain, we will take the horse off the market, list them as pending or adopted. If at any time you change your mind, your 30% deposit is NON REFUNDABLE and will be taken as a donation for our future efforts. If you simply want to place a deposit contingent on pre-purchase exam and/or your visit to view the horses your deposit will be refundable should you decide not to adopt; however in these instances you must realize that our intent is to find a good, solid, safe, forever home for our horses so you may lose a horse while making arrangements.
We appreciate everyone's understanding that we actively market and promote our horses and so, should you lose a horse to another pre-qualified adopter it is a success for that horse to have found a second chance.

How to place a horse at Heritage Acres:
Beginning in December, 2011 Heritage Acres; a privately funded equine placement option is no longer able to simply take your horse without sponsorship. We have found that many trainers negotiate board and then, once here, they abandon their horses, so a placement contract will be required should your horse fit into our program for adoption
Any horse that is given up for placement must be funded for a minimum of 90 days at the rate of $350/month plus expenses. Should we place your horse prior to or within the first 90 days, we will split the adoption/sale fee 50/50 with the donor of the horse after expenses are paid. You may have some say in the suggested adoption fee and place a "reserve" on your horse. If after 90 days we still retain possession of the horse; we ask nothing more from the donor, will incur all future expenses ourselves. Once the horse is placed in a new home, any adoption/sale fees will go towards future efforts.
Gift and Memorial Sponsorship
If you would like to give a gift of sponsorship to someone for a special occasion, a holiday gift, or as a memorial, we provide a letter of sponsorship and a photo of the horse. Please send all inquiries of gift sponsorship Shelly Ames @ sgonzales.ames@gmail.com .

A receipt will be sent to you for your donation but at this time, Heritage Acres Rescue is a Private Rescue and donations are from the heart and not tax deductible.
Monthly Subscription
It costs Heritage Acres approximately $300/month to care for each horse in our program. You can help us defray some of the cost by signing up for a monthly sponsorship. Paypal will be available soon, but until that time donations can be made to Heritage Acres in check or money order.

Sponsor a Horse
Sponsor a horse for yourself or for someone else for as little as any amount. We also take donations of feed, bedding, supplements, de-wormers, fly spray with gift certificates from your choice of Jeffers, Agway, Tractor Supply, Country Max, KV Vet or your choice of tack shop. To help with training and rehabilitation, we also accept lunge lines, halters, boots, wraps, betadine, anti fungals, furazone.
Leave a Legacy
Consider including Heritage Acres in your will or estate plan. Such a gift enables you to make a significant contribution that may not have been possible during your lifetime.
Provide In-kind Gifts
Heritage Acres would greatly appreciate any donations of supplies that, if not new, are in good condition.

Sponsor A Horse!
Sponsors help offset the cost to care for our horse while they wait for their permanent homes. Heritage Acres is in need of caring people to sponsor our horses.
Some of the needs of our horses can be quite costly and having more that one Sponsor is a great gift!
Our goal is to have every horse sponsored, until they find their new home. Please consider being a sponsor for one of our wonderful horses. (Horses may have more than one sponsor)
